New Caledonia
In August 2009, Nancy and Chuck went to the South Pacific to enjoy the birds of New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea. They spent a week travelling on their own in New Caledonia, visiting both the main island (La Grande Terre) and the outer islands of Ouvéa and Lifou. New Caledonia is home to a few endemic bird species, most notably the endangered Kagu, the only surviving member of its family. We saw this bird easily on both of our visits to Parc National Riviére Bleu.
