In January 2009, the lure of the tropics once again drew Nancy and Chuck southward, this time to Costa Rica. They travelled by themselves on a tour put together by Costa Rica Gateway. They spent time watching birds, and Nancy photographing, on the Pacific Coast around Carara National Park, at Rancho Naturalista, Savegre Mountain Hotel and La Selva research station. They saw more than 350 bird species on the two week trip, and Nancy had excellent opportunities for bird photography.
